INSYS icom receives IT security certificate from the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI)

With this, the company INSYS icom underlines the high quality standard of the security of its products. The test was carried out by a BSI-approved test centre. The passed test procedure certifies that the MRX3 LTE industrial router has a modern security architecture and is robust against attacks. The security of the solutions is a top priority for INSYS icom because the potential for damage in the CRITIS environment, such as in energy generation plants and public utilities, is known to be high and therefore an attractive target for IT attacks.

We are proud to have confirmation with this certificate that our product meets the security requirements that can be important for CRITIS operators. The BSI’s testing procedure includes a technical evaluation of the product according to publicly announced and recognised security criteria. The testing includes the analysis of the attack vectors, the evaluation of the cryptographic procedures, the conformity with the Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol, the evaluation of the security of the update mechanism, extensive penetration tests and a detailed analysis of the security architecture.

The aim of the procedure is to ensure the secure transmission of information in data networks, whereby in particular the confidentiality, integrity and authenticity of the transmitted information can be protected. The certificate refers to the industrial router MRX3 LTE with the operating system icom OS V6.1 and the hardware version 1.1 for the scope “General network components and embedded IP-networked devices”.
