Initial situation

“Linthal 2015” is an underground pumped-storage power station in the Swiss Alps. Water is pumped back from the Limmernsee into the Muttsee, that is located 630 m above, and used for power generation. The pump and turbine capacity of 1000 MW each can substitute a nuclear power plant.

Solution

Deployment of our fault monitor IMON-G200 SC (Sleep Control) with efficient hardware and intelligent software incl. Power-Down mode. IMON-G200 SC

  • wakes up in configurable intervals and
  • activates the VEGA level sensor
  • that measures the level thereupon and
  • sends the value to a VEGA web portal via cellular radio.
Summary

The whole solution is so efficient because the INSYS Smart Device IMON-G200 SC enters deep sleep time-controlled and connects the whole measuring and automation technology to the power supply only in the awake phase.
