Regensburg, June 23rd 2026 – INSYS icom, expert in secure industrial data communication, is introducing the next generation of modular industrial routers. The product line is designed for applications in critical infrastructure and industrial environments, with a focus on the highest level of security, reliable operation, and maximum flexibility through a customizable, modular platform.
Ruggedness meets flexibility
The new MRX generation, featuring the base models MRX2.neo, MRX3.neo, and MRX5.neo, enables companies to tailor their communications infrastructure precisely to their needs and adapt it at any time as requirements change. Thanks to interchangeable expansion modules (MRcards), state-of-the-art security architecture, and support for the latest communication technologies such as 5G, fiber optics, and LTE450, the MRX.neo offers a future-proof platform for industrial applications. With the integrated container runtime, custom applications can be run directly on the router. This allows for the efficient implementation of edge computing scenarios and the local processing of data.
Industrial systems and infrastructure are constantly evolving. New communication standards, additional interfaces, or changing requirements often make it necessary to replace entire devices. The MRX.neo takes a different approach: Instead of completely replacing a router, communication and interface modules can be flexibly added or replaced. This allows the router to grow along with the application’s requirements.
This makes the MRX.neo suitable for both machine builders and operators of critical infrastructure, as well as for applications in energy supply, water and wastewater management, transportation, and building automation—areas where long-term availability and protection of investment are crucial.
Security by Design as the foundation
In addition to its modularity, the MRX.neo stands out for its powerful security architecture. The icom OS operating system, developed specifically for industrial applications, protects the router through Secure Boot and regular security updates. It is developed in accordance with IEC 62443-4-1 and helps companies meet the increasing requirements set forth by NIS2 and the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA).
Using the icom Connectivity Suite – VPN (iCS), users can quickly and easily connect the MRX.neo to a VPN service for remote maintenance and integrate it into a central device management system via icom Router Management (iRM).
„We support our customers from the initial idea through to implementation. It is important to us to make technical complexity tangible and find solutions that work reliably in operation“, says Markus Heider, Head of Competence Center Applications at INSYS icom.
The MRX.neo is developed and manufactured in Germany. Like all devices in the .neo product family, it comes with a five-year manufacturer’s warranty, long-term product availability, and regular firmware updates. This provides companies with a secure and future-proof communications platform for demanding industrial applications.
Future-Proof migration for existing customers
For users of devices running the INSYS OS operating system, INSYS icom is offering a .neo upgrade program through December 31, 2026, designed to facilitate the transition to the new platform and the icom OS operating system. The goal is to bring existing installations up to date efficiently and with minimal effort.
