EU directives and national laws are revolutionising the energy market, liberalising metrology and metering, and creating an IT-based metering infrastructure for efficient energy use and climate protection.
Benefits are obvious
For a long time, special contract customers have been taking advantage of the benefits of regularly transmitting metering data for optimisations. The EU-wide political will is now making these benefits available to all customers with smart meters. The German Energy Industry Act regulates the installation of measuring instruments and provides legal definitions for operating metering points.
- Electronic EDL21 meters display the stored consumption and tariff information locally.
- EDL40 systems with data transmission are replacing personnel-intensive readings.
- This process automation is creating the prerequisites for cost-effectively billing for periods of less than a year, which the supplier is obliged to do if the end consumer so requires.
New generation of meters
In the special contract customers area, the Synchronous Modular Meter (SyM²) represents a new, standardised generation of forward-looking, modular load profile meters. Compatible communication modules provide the connection to wide area networks.
SyM² KM module for GPRS and Ethernet
With our long experience of load profile meter data recording, we are a respected development provider in the metering sector. As an OEM partner, we develop and produce e.g. SyM² communication modules for GPRS and Ethernet connections.
You will find technical information and examples of applications in our Application Notes.
Migration solutions
If converting from modem to IP/wireless technology, we recommend our communication solutions as THE connecting element for innovative smart meter applications.
