More than just displays

Intelligent passenger information systems

Keeping travellers accurately and quickly informed is a basic task that all passenger information systems need to perform. But modern, integrated solutions can do far more. They display alternatives, send information to mobile devices such as PDAs and smartphones and enable location-based communications. This means, for example, that advertising can also be delivered. Other applications that are of interest in the tourism sector, such as digital guides, are also feasible.

Timetable information:

If passenger operations are to run smoothly at railway stations, airports and ports, it is essential to provide timetable information. Travellers need to be kept updated about their travel options and the status of their connections. Networked information systems perform this key task completely automatically or in combination with manual, local user interface.

General informationen:

Besides timetables, passenger information systems can be used for other purposes. For example, information about events, weather reports, news items, advertising and other, location-neutral or locationbased information can be delivered.

Location-based information and added value services:

Added value services may be purely informative or for advertising purposes. They enable customised services to be delivered directly to the transport environment. Passers-by can become customers by being addressed there and then (e.g. via voucher codes by SMS). Other initiatives, such as sponsoring the cost of tickets for a regional train route in exchange for profi table advertising opportunities, are also possible.
