A car park is not merely a defined space. It is the starting point for making transactions, pursuing leisure activities or making a journey. This means that car parks are the first step towards a satisfied customer and that they may offer added value that many are unaware of. Key issues include: What is the quickest and easiest way to find a parking space? When does my parking period expire? How much do I have to pay, and by when? And also, in the future, can I charge my electric car here? At this point, there are other potential added value services relating to vehicles – and all thanks to networking!
 

Barrier systems:

Barrier systems not only control entrances and exits, but can also be used inside parking areas to route traffic or to section off particular spaces. Barrier systems with an integrated pay function prevent delays at exits if a driver has taken too long to leave the car park or completely forgotten to pay.

 

Parking ticket machines:

For the public sector or private bodies, car parks are a potential additional source of income. And at this point, customer revenues can be affected by pricing models. Using added value services, car parks can also be used as customer loyalty tools, for example with loyalty cards that offer free parking, or charging points for electric cars.

 

(Car park) routing systems:

As with a traffic management system, routing systems can also ensure that car parks are used efficiently. The car park space can be sub-divided and cars directed safely and quickly to empty spaces or particular areas. To do this, of course, each individual parking space needs to be linked to the management system.

 

Reminder function:

Car parks can offer customer-based added value services. These include, for example, the option to be informed by SMS or email before the parking period that has been paid for expires or when a particular amount of parking fees has been reached. Other feasible services include car washing and minor repairs with relevant status information.
