The embedded Ethernet modules transmit serial data in IP packets via an Ethernet network. Any application with a serial interface can easily and cheaply be integrated into an existing Ethernet LAN. Any device with access to the network - e.g. including via the Internet - can be used as the remote terminal. Using the free-of-charge virtual COM port driver, Windows programs can address the remote application as though both devices were directly connected.
The i-modul Ethernet or Socket Ethernet can replace a modem connection with Ethernet and Internet using compatible AT commands.
Apart from the pure data communication, the i-modul Ethernet provides digital inputs and outputs that can also be transparently shared between two devices.
